Have you ever seen the built in messaging app on an apple computer; The messaging app gives the user the ability to reply and read messages straight from their computer? Well if you DONT have and iPhone and you DO have an android verizon phone, than you are in luck my friend. Verizon has made a nifty little desktop app that you can use to reply and view your messages straight from your computer!

6 Steps total

Step 1: Make Sure You Have The App!

I know this can be frustrating, but if you don't even have the messaging app, then there's no point in this tutorial. Most android phone on Verizon should have this built into the phones themselves. If you go into setting and go to default applications, you can view whether or not you own this app.

Step 2: Open The App, Make It The Default

Okay, so you have some good news. You have the app! Just make sure you make it your default messaging app before you move on. It's important to note that this will only work if you are using messages plus as your native app. and let's not get this wrong, messages+ is a great application.

Step 3: Download The Messages+ Desktop Application

Navigate to https://www.verizonwireless.com/solutions-and-services/apps/verizon-messages/ and download the messages+ app for your desktop.

Step 4: Install The .Exe And Run The Program

It's as simple as it gets. Can you believe you are already almost done!? Just hit next on the prompt screen and let it do its thing. The installer will download and install any dependencies it needs.

Step 5: Agree to Terms and Send a Confirmation Code to Your Mobile Number

Once you have the app open you will see a screen which prompts you to accept the terms and conditions before continuing. feel free to read these before you enter your phone number, but who reads these now a days anyways. Sign me up!

Step 6: Enter Your Confirmation Code and DONE!

Easy as that, once you receive your confirmation code via text you should be all set. All of your messages will load in a nice little Skype for business style window. This is great for someone like me who doesn't like to hold their phone all the time, or like power users who never have any battery life and still need to send messages. Enjoy!

In conclusion, I would just like to thank my coworker Jim for introducing me to this wonderful app. I use to be an iPhone user, but never liked the idea of owning a mac. After switching to a galaxy s7 edge I was happy about my decision, and even happier that I could now use a feature that I believed was only for the world of iPhones. I hope some of you out there get to discover this app. I was surprised when I saw something like this was out for windows. take that apple. no apples were harmed in the making of this how to... maybe.

  I used this when I had Verizon, it was great. After I switched to US Cellular from Verizon, I found PushBullet https://www.pushbullet.com/apps and absolutly love it. It's has more features and works with Android and Apple on any carrier.

  or you can just login into your verizon account on the web and send and receive messages in your account that way as well not having to install anything.

  Sorry for the late reply, but the benefits of having this feature installed as a stand alone program stand out for me. the download is about 60mb and can be configured within 4-5 minutes. Not only does it give you the option to start the program on PC startup, but you're able to view incoming messages in a nice screen overlay even while completing other tasks. Unless you want to be logging in constantly or want your personal Verizon account open in a workplace environment than that's the risk you take. Not only this, but you can setup sound notifications from the app and even auto reply features. If you forget your phone at home or in the car this saves the hassle.

  Its a good way to text from your computer, but the app is severely lacking in features. You cant even select copy/paste text from the app.

  We use this application often in our dispatch office to direct 60+ truckers. It works well and it makes the transportation departments life much easier.
